Practices

Our practices will begin the last week in July. Practices are held at the Crystal Lake Holiday Inn. Days and times are chosen by the Directors based on availability of practice and the number of poms teams. Coaches will communicate the full practice schedule to teams before our season begins.

Kindergarten & 1st Grade Poms: Practice one day a week for no longer than 1 hour from August to October

2nd through 8th: Practice 2-3 days a week. Duration will vary based on grade level. Additional practices will be added the week of a competition.

 

Performances

Kindergarten & 1st grade Poms - Perform at home flag football games on Saturdays with their final performance on CJT Family Performance Night. Practices are once a week.  Season starts July 31st and will go through mid-October (approx. 12 weeks).

 

2nd Grade - Perform at home flag or tackle football games on the weekends from August - October. This team will participate in CJT Family Performance Night and the Pop Warner Chicagoland Conference Competition. Practices will be twice a week, and season will end with the Conference competition held at the end of October.

 

3rd - 6th Grade - Perform at home tackle football games on the weekends from August - October.  Teams will participate in CJT Family Performance Night, Pop Warner Chicagoland Conference Competition and Mid America Regionals competition.  Practices are twice per week with mandatory additional practices held during competition weeks. The season will end in mid-November.

 

7th/8th Grade - Perform at home tackle football games on the weekends from August - October. Teams will participate in CJT Family Performance Night, Pop Warner Chicagoland Conference Competition and Mid America Regionals competition.  Practices are twice per week with mandatory additional practices held during competition weeks.  This team will have the opportunity to qualify for travel.

 

Competitions

CJT Poms will participate in Pop Warner Dance Competitions.

2nd Grade Poms - teams will compete in 1 local Pop Warner competition at the end of October.

3rd – 8th Grade Poms - teams will participate in 2-3 local Pop Warner competitions at the end of October and mid-November.

7th – 8th Grade - these are considered "travel teams" as these teams will compete to qualify for travel competitions.
